I began teaching audiobook narration workshops for VoicespotWCS.com in 2014. My weekend workshop “Audiobooks – The Art and Business” consists of 15 hours of everything you need to know to begin narrating audiobooks including:
- Audiobook basics such as
- fiction vs. non-fiction
- 1st person vs. 3rd person reads
- story arc
- Audiobook preparation including
- research
- “casting” your novel
- handling dialogue including gender
- accent/dialect considerations
- The business of audiobooks including
- auditions
- demos
- rates
- industry connections
- finding work
- union vs non-union work
- Critique of four narrations throughout the weekend
It’s a pretty jam-packed weekend but there are a lot of hats to wear in the ever-evolving world of audiobook narration and production so there is always lots to learn. In addition, I teach a level two workshop at WCS that focuses on performance development and an ACX class/webinar intended to show you how to use the ACX platform to your best advantage. A copy of the webinar can be purchased for $75.00/CDN upon request.
I also offer individual coaching, either in-person or via Skype. If you are interested in private coaching with me, click here.
All of my students are added to my personal distribution list (with their permission) and provided with links to updated material, blogs, podcasts, classes, etc. relevant to the continuation of their growth in the field of audiobook narration.
